just some thoughts about priorities
-------------------------------------------
Just watching the news nowadays can be a scary endeavor ~ many people are finding ways to cut back on their budgets just to make ends meet. This got me to thinking about what is truly important in my life. Priorities! Here are five things I won't cut back on (in no particular order):
* internet service -- vital tool in connecting with friends and family all over the world and keeps me close to being 'paperless'... paying bills online etc
*health insurance -- so expensive but the alternative is worse
*quality food items -- kinda funny, isn't it? brown rice instead of white , organic apples, no fast food, fresh instead of frozen
*safe, comfortable housing -- 'nuff said!
*activity related expenses -- golf and fishing for Gene, biking and kayaking for both of us ~~ initial upfront costs are well worth the expense
On the other hand, here are five things we never spent money on to begin with:
* new car with payments -- save up and pay cash for what you can afford
* big mortgage payments on a house -- house rich & cash poor is not a good place to be
*expensive jewelry and clothing-- keeping up with the jones' is a huge financial drain
*smoking -- so expensive and addicting, like throwing $$ out the window
*children -- average cost til adulthood is about $250k (of course it would be nice to have someone wash the car & cut the grass)
