alpine art group ~~ some talented folks contributing to AL

Here's some info about the art group...

There are about 14 - 15 Alpine Lake residents and friends who attend the Friday afternoon art workshops either regularly or on occasions. Obviously, they have more during the Spring/Summer/Fall seasons than in the winter. Since 2005 the group has created many unique and beautiful holiday ornaments, gifts and decorative items which are sold at the annual Octoberfest. The members donate the materials for these items as well as their talent and time, and all proceeds have gone into a fund.  At the end of 2007, that fund had grown to $917.00.

It was decided last fall that, with permission, the group wanted to use that money to redecorate the Rhododendrum Room and turn it into a lovely gallery in which they could hang their artwork for everyone's viewing pleasure. They also wanted to invite the sewers of the Quilters' Group to display some of their beautiful work there as well.

Many people helped to paint the room and the hallway leading into the room - art group members, their spouses, members of the carpenter's club and other generous property owners. Several ladies of the Quilters made the window dressings.  The materials for the painting, the valances and the gallery hanging system actually exceeded the amount of money in the fund, so some of the art group members chipped in and donated money to make up the difference. The cost of the gallery hanging system was $589.00, but it was money well spent as that system can be moved to another space in the future, if necessary.

The Alpine Lake Art Group invites everyone to come to the lodge at any time to see the paintings on display, many of which are scenes of Alpine Lake or of the wildlife here. The paintings will be changed from time, so the exhibit will always be fresh and interesting. And finally, some of the paintings are for sale. The artists would be pleased to have Alpine Lake and guests select one of their works to enjoy in their home or office.
