a week around the compound ~~ 5/4-5/10

---------------------------------------
Here a recap of last week around the compound...

---------------------------------------

Gas is at $3.80 in TA...YIKES!

We've had plenty of rain this week... the May apples are coming up like crazy. When we first moved here, I did not know what they were so I named them 'umbrella plants'!

Cathy  S celebrated her birthday in style at the home of David and Grace. Happy Birthday Cathy!

A pair of orioles are visiting the hummer feeders in my yard... they look just like the  ones on the ball cap !

A big thanks to Barb B who brought me a bag of necessities from IKEA... good friends are a wonderful gift.

A Friday stop at Wally World was like li'l alpine...we saw lots of neighbors there including Vickie  M, Dennis & Ronnie and Ben & Inge... with that high price of gas, a shuttle bus sounds like a great idea!  LOL

It's been about 2 years since a bear has visited our yard ~ last night about 10:30 I heard a commotion out back. Well, the bear had first dibs on a feeder and I was not about to argue. Now, all feeders will go in at night.

Spotted on the golf course this week was Frank M, Bill B & Gene. Word is Gene was a few over par (whatever that means), but all players had fun. And each made birdies!

Ran into Bob & Kay at the Dollar General. Good thing they were there... I was 11 cents short! They covered my bill. Thanks... I owe you!

Congrats to Sherry M for completing her Breast Cancer Walk in record time. Way to go Sherry!

Sunday is Mother's Day. Make sure you wish all the ladies out there a Happy Mother's Day.

Have a great week!

This was a very enjoyable read. I look forward to more features like this in the future.

Gene is a few over par. That means he sucks!

For those not at the work effort put in by 84 Alpinites on Sat, you missed a great event. Mother Nature did her part to cry on those working outside, but that did not stop those from digging rocks on the golf course, planting flowers, playing pick up sticks, working on the playground and much more outside. I was not inside so can't list all that got done, but I am told that everyone has to check out the paint job on the lower level of the lodge. Next time maybe the Alpine volunteer spirit will get some more people out for a day in the mud and paint while meeting new people.
