does anyone know about the pool?

-------------------------------------------
Well, its May 1 and assessment payments are due. As we head into a busy summer season, most of you know that the pool did not re-open as scheduled. For the last month, rumors have been flying about what happened. No 'official' response has been given. Even on alpine's official website, no statement as to why the pool is closed, or when it will be re-open. The only way to stop the rumors is to provide the PO's with an answer as to why the pool is closed.

This isn't about whether we should have a pool or not, but why can't the property owners get a simple answer to a simple question?

The pool is still used in our advertising. It shows up on the website, newspaper ads, radio ads, and the phone menu for booking pool parties. Yet, PO' still have no idea what's going on.

Are there plans for a new pool? Are there plans to shut down the pool and suffer the same fate as the ski slope? I don't know,  but I sure hope PO's have some input before all decisions are final.

Please, someone in charge let the PO's know what's up.

Here's what I know. General Manager, Jim Wilson had a pool engineer make an evaluation of what the situation with the pool is. That was about two weeks ago. He told Jim that he would give Jim and the Board his results sometime around the first part of May - that's now. In his report, Jim said the engineer would tell what the problem/s is/are, how much it would cost to repair and what some of the alternatives might be. Also, at the April open board meeting, he basically repeated this same story and commented that any/all remedies would cost a lot of money$$$$$. So, until the engineer's report is received and evaluated, no one really knows what the final answer is. If/when I hear of any other information, I'll be sure to pass it on.

It is broken, GM mentioned at the April meeting a figure of $300-$500K to repair......pool is gone! Other property owners have ask if we will get a rebate on our assessment since we no longer have that amenity.....good question.

Yes I agree we should get a break in our assessment if we have lost the pool. What am I going to tell the cubs? After along winters nap are you telling me my only choice of washing off is the cold lake?

I've heard there are some property owners looking into the possibility of installing private pools at their homes. Understand they are checking the legal aspects before proceeding. I plan to find out who they are and be nice to them just incase I would want to take a dip on a hot day!!!!

After reading this blog, I checked the Alpine Lake Website and noticed that pool is no longer mentioned as one of the amenities, which is appropriate, given that it looks like the current one will not re-open. I would be disappointed if there were no pool to use in addition to the beach. I guess I would have to make friends with the folks that decide to put in there own pools!

I agree. We're coming up over memorial day and renting a house through Clutter. They made a courtesy call to make sure we knew that the pool was closed.

Seems like the miniature golf course is going the same way as the pool and the ski slope. Advertised, paid for in assessments as an amenity, but not available. What's next?

Good news about the miniature golf course. A miniature course contractor has been engaged to redo the course properly....the agreement was that it was to be done by end of April. Given weather conditions may have caused the delay, I feel confident it will be finished by Memorial Day. So, at least we have an improved amenity to look forward to. This is especially appreciated because so many children and adults enjoy using it. If I learn anything to the contrary, I'll be sure to put a notice here.

Judith. Thanks for the update about the miniature golf course. I was aware that the course was originally scheduled to be done the week of April 19th. Obviously that didn't happen. Too bad, the weather for April has been extremely cooperative for such a renovation.

Now, it looks like Memorial Day is the goal. I hope its playable by then.

Perhaps the removal of the old carpet should have been done just prior to the contractor coming in. Playing a not so good course is a better option than no course at all.

There have been quite a few folks looking to play mini golf this spring. Let's hope they'll have the chance very soon.

There is a legal term for what constantly goes on at Camp Alpine, and that term is called "theft by deception". What a shame and waste of OUR assessments. I am only being upfront and honest, but quite sure that my opinion will be deleated. I am sure that numerous others would voice the same opinion but don't want to ruffle any feathers!!!

Checked this out, and you are correct, legally there are legal statutes in every state regarding "theft by deception", I find this quite interesting, thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention.
