The title says it all. The best way to find out about a place is by word of mouth. Here's your chance to tell your neighbors about a great place to have lunch, or maybe see a band perform. Or see a play.
Let's hear what's going on...
we ran a similar story back in December. here's a link to that info...

April showers bring alpine flowers...and I buy them from a li'l store on RT 39, right before the WV line. Headed towards alpine, it is on the right, up high. Many people refer to it as 'The Potato Man Store' since you can buy 50 lb bags of potatoes. The store also has an amazing array of annuals....A neighbor called me this weekend to let me know what was in stock. I got a flat of pink snapdragons for 10 bucks...there were also marigolds, petunias, alyssum and a few other varieties of flowers.

We like to take guests to the base of the wind turbines on Route 219 south of Oakland about 20 miles. Like them or not, they're fascinating to see up close.
For a reasonable lunch, we like Penn Alps @ Route 495 and I-68. Good food with a really good salad bar and home made soups.

If you're ever up to Ohiopyle or to see Falling Waters, a good place to get a bite to eat is the Braddock Inn on Rt-40, northwest of Farmington and Ft. Necessity Nat'l Battlefield. Prices were reasonable (for lunch) and food was good. It's a little more than a hour away from Alpine, so a little far too for a quick bite to eat.

For lunch or dinner, we like The Cornish Manor. Great new daily specials. Everything from seafood to prime rib. Nice atmoshere too.

Most of the comments about various resturants around town I can say I agree with. Ive eaten at most of them.
I wish however I could say the only place I eat is at Alpine. As much as I love Alpine I do not eat anymore in our resturant. I sure want too. The truth is and it saddens me to say, the menu and food service has much to be desired. The waitress is wonderful. But the specials never change nor does the menu. I wish we could really beef up this area. I used to be proud to bring all my guest to the lodge for meals. No longer is this the case. I do believe we can be more creative if we try.
For mothers day im going to another countryclub where a buffet for $17.oo will have a variety of great food and its in Maryland where prices are higher. I know we cannot at this time do a weekly buffet like this until our numbers are up. Our numbers could come up if we can do something about the quality of food.
Again I love Alpine and will one day live here. I hope I can do several meals a week at the lodge when Im here because we are doing it right. This is only meant to encourage us to face up to the fact we need change.
Hey our pizza at Alpine is the best.
