We have been told by Verizon that more DSL capability for Alpine Lake will be by late August.

Communications at Alpine -- Who knows when the assessments are to be mailed and when they are due?

Bob- I'm pretty sure the mailings are going out on April 1. Payment is due May 1.

The assessment mailings will be in the post office next week. The reason that they are later this year is that the fiscal year changed. Our Alpine Lake fiscal year is now May 1-April 30. So, new assessments for 2008-9 are due beginning May 1.

My question is as follows. With board elections coming. Could we have a profile on the folk running for office? I do not know everyone yet at Alpine. What can you tell you tell us about those running and why they want to be elected?

Gary, I am running for a seat on the board. The next Alpine Lake Newsletter will contain articles from each of the candidates. From those documents, you may learn about what each can contribute to the ALPOA board. However, I will be launching my own blog next week and would certainly welcome any questions you have about my background, qualifications and specific interests to contribute to the board. Judith - Great news!! We have loved your insightful and thoughtful comments on this blog. Your knowledge of many important topics relative to the future of Alpine has been very helpful to those of us not on site full time and your strong support of all types of owners has been wonderful. As relative newcomers to AL, we have benefited and greatly appreciate your willingness to share information.
Thanks for stepping forward and Best of Luck - we hope your candidacy is successful.
Regardless of who each person supports, let's hope every one who can not make it to the annual meeting is able to obtain and use their proxies as their right of ownership. Sounds like in years past, those off site may not have utilized their proxies. Some big issues like the lodge rebuild/renovation are bound to be decided in this Board's term so it is very important for all of us to read the biographies and ask lots of questions of our candidates.

To all who read this blog. It is so important, this year, to invest some time in speaking to the candidates and to voting...via absentee or at the annual meeting. I am very excited about running, but I want you to ask me the hard questions. I want to know what's on your mind. I want to know what is important to you. And you should be asking the same of all the candidates. I will be looking forward to presenting my viewpoints on my blog and in person. And I look forward to meeting lots of new Alpinites...people who may not have taken an active position in the past, but who feel strongly about helping to make Alpine Lake the place we all envision to be beautiful, restful and safe. So, bring it on. I'm ready, willing and able!

Hey Dennis (Steve)- The discussions did offer a lot of info on the community. However, it got to the point where a few were just making comments to stir things up. That's not what I'm trying to do here. So all of that is put away for a while.

To All who have expressed their encouragement of my running for a seat on the ALPOA board. A BIG THANKS. Since there are three seats to be filled, and 7 candidates, it will be a tough contest. I am going to need all the help I can garner. Which is why I want to have the blog. Altough it is somewhat easy to have dialogue with folks who live at the lake, or who come here often, it is much more difficult to have that interaction with those who are not here that much. But I feel their concerns, issues and suggestions are equally important. Sending out a letter to everyone is OK, but it doesn't match the effectiveness of actually exchanging words and being able to respond. So, I hope to have it launced by this weekend. Hopefully, Diana will let me post the blog address on this blog.

Does anybody know why the pool is closed indefinitely? I read what is out on the Alpine site but there is no detail. We are hoping that before any more money is allocated to fix it that there is a discussion with POs. Thanks.

I have heard a number of reasons why the pool is closed indefinitely. So before I go reporting heresay, I will ask Jim Wilson tomorrow, Friday and see if I can get an accurate answer. I'll be sure to post it as soon as I get the information.
