Well, maybe the storm of the century, but the worst we've seen this winter. Its Thursday morning and the snow is still falling. Probably about 18-20 inches on the ground. The temps are hovering in the teens, and only an occasional wind blowing.

We knew it snowed up there but had no idea you got that much this time around.
Thank you,also, for this great website; it's a wonderful way for us part timers to stay informed. I look forward to the daily updates and reading the points of view from our neighbors.
Mike and I are counting down to when we can finally retire and become "full timers."

ALPINE LAKE made the Washington DC late night news on Feb 27 when they reported that "Alpine Lake" WV reports receiving 14 inches.

"Resident Alert (Update): 1200pm, Feb 28, 2008 - Heavy snowfall has made roadways at Alpine Lake extremely hazardous, particularly in steeper areas on the property. This situation is aggravated because one of the snowplows broke down last night. It has since been fixed and maintenance crews are working hard to catch up; however, roadway conditions will continue to be degraded until later this afternoon. "
