What's Your Go-To Place... when you leave Alpine?

The title says it all. When you head out of Alpine, or when you go home, what's the place you just have to stop at?

Is it a restaurant, a gift shop, a place just for desserts & coffee? What is it? And where is it?
Let your friends in on the secret!

OK, here's getting the ball rolling. We've always enjoyed going to Siriani's in Davis, WV. Great Italian food, casual setting and reasonable prices. Make sure you try the parmesan wedges!
Just found a new place in Morgantown... Flying Fish & Co. Great fresh seafood and very casual setting.
    Check 'em out & enjoy!

We past by Morgantown on the way to our place in Pittsburgh, and enjoy stopping at the "Back Bay" good sea food and beer. Restaurant is directly across from the airport.

When we head back to Uniontown via Oakland, we try to stop at the Accident Bakery... pies and "sticky buns" that remind us of homemade baked good from days-gone-by. Speaking of days-gone-by, when we head home by way of Bruceton Mills, we stop for a late breakfast at a place near the dam... I think it's called the "Mill Club." Great buckwheats and a conscious lack of "atmosphere." Tin ceiling, vinyl tile floors, outrageous political statements and great historical and "celebrity" photos... a great dose of West Virginia individuality.

Shame on me for not mentioning Ruby and Ketchy's. If I didn't mention this "comfort food mecca," my children, parents, and grandparents would think I had memory loss. We've been eating great food there since the days of the Morgantown Speedway.

Our favorite "go to place" is Fayette County, Pa where we were both born & raised. I get homesick thinking about family, old friends and old stomping grounds. Some shopping spots: (men)Lowe's, Home depot, Builder's Surplus, Home Warehouse, Pechin Lumber, Cluss Lumber,& more (all within 10 - 15 minutes from each other);(women's bargains)Walmart, Gabriel's, Value City, Ollie's, Penney's, BonTon,Sears,Kmart, etc.(all within 10 minutes from each other).I took my neighbor, Doris, left after breakfast & returned after dark in the summer and didn't hit all the spots we wanted to. If you like wine, Forks of Cheat Winery(119 north of Morgantown) great shopping experience with great scenery. Restaurants99% of the time excellent experiences in customer service, good food, and reasonable prices)Buffet style eating: Sun Porch in Hopwood, Golden Corale and China Wok(larger than Oakland's) in Uniontown, Adam's Pine Creek Buffet off 79 north between Waynesburg and Washington,Pa, Oakhurst Tea Room in Somerset. Sit-down, small family/individual owned/operated types: Cherry Tree Cafe, Caddy Shack,Potter's, Sam's Restaurant(just a few in Uniontown), Amy Lynn's in Smithfield, Apple Annie's in Point Marion(mouth watering cakes & pies),Airport Restaurant and LaVerne's in Waynesburg, Chuck Wagon, Hartley's Inn in Carmichaels, Ice Plant in Greensboro, Dolfi's and Janet's Diner(new location decor is 50's retro style with improved menu) in Masontown. Fancier sit-down style:Coal Baron, Peter's Torchlight ,Meloni's, Rotelli's,Titlow Tavern & Grill,Damico's,Flamingo's Hollywood Steak House and Caileigh's in Uniontown. There are others that I fail to mention. There are the standard franchise operated Red Lobster, Eat & Park, Denny's, McDonald's, Hardee's, Garfield's, Panera Bread, and many others. When we venture toward Cumberland our favorite stops are Hen House Restaurant( off I68) and D'Atri Restaurant in LaVale as we shop for bargains at Lowe's, Ollie's, Surplus City, & Builder's Surplus. Terra Alta is about an hour +/- from Uniontown, Pa., Cumberland, Md. and Morgantown, WV. so each shopping, visiting, etc. trip usually requiries 1 or 2 meals out. Now you all know why Dennis and I have weight problems.
